Carvin SB5000 / SB4000 Roll Call...Part 5!

I'm going to see if they can do the regular black which they call 'Jet Black' with the burnt edges.

Going to give them a call today. (I cannot believe I'm gasing for this) I really thought I was done.

I'm also going to be playing at NAMM so I'm going to wait and see what they have out there as well before ordering.

Ok I was thinking that I could get a reserve burst edge or something...LOL Nope.

I did pull the trigger and talked to Flock.
Ash/Ebony, Black/Red Tort guard, Cream covers with a black headstock, gloss neck with low wide frets.

Nothing fancy, just functional.

I'm thinking it would look great. Flock was great to talk to and work with.

I'm a fan of little frets and prefer the smaller the better just about.
This will be a gigging machine for me.

I'm officially joining the ranks of all you Carvin SB fans on here. Ordered my SB5000 last night. Going for very vintage so it's fairly stock, alder with plain maple top in Classic Sunburst finish. Standard neck with black dots, chrome hardware. Did order both the white and red tort pickguards so I can choose. Also ordered black knobs to put on the chrome plate. I did go with the Volume/Blend instead of V/V only because that is what I'm used to and want to be able to kill my volume on stage between songs easily without having to dial back in where I was.

Anybody have any suggestions for me on things you might change since this is my first Carvin order? I do have a couple days to make any modifications before they charge for it. I was originally trying to copy the color of "59 Burst from Sadowsky, but Carvin's email was down last night and it was difficult trying to get across what I was going after, plus they wanted a custom paint charge for it. Deep Umber with Blackburst edges was my other choice, trying to copy a 40th Anniversary Telecaster. Any input of suggestions would be greatly appreciated and in a couple months I'll be happy to be among the proud owners.

If I were you I'd call them and negotiate for some price reduction. Also consider doing inlay on the volume knobs, might give a little hint of classy.

Another new Carvin soon-to-be owner here. I was inches away from ordering one a few months back but I went through a couple of basses before finally realizing I wasn't going to be able to shake the Carvin GAS. I actually had my sights set on a used Fodera Empire 5 this past weekend that I was dying to try out but I found out it was sold so I decided to pull the trigger on a Carvin. I am beyond pumped!
