Haha coz I will be ordering from a dealer in my country, I tried the sb5000 in the shop and just overwhelmed by how good the bass is in term of its sound and playability. found out i can get a custom so why not

I'm waiting on a job offer, which should come in a few days. If I land it, I'll be ordering an SB5000 with a MM/J pickup configuration, probably ash/birdseye maple board. Finish to be determined...
Hi All, New to the forum here. I just purchased an SB4000. It's about a year old but it seems to have some grounding issues. Excessive electrical noise. Any thoughts? It is an active / passive electronics, and I the single J99's were so noisy, the Carvin folks sent me the humbucker's which I installed in the same wiring scheme as the former and it is still just so noisy.
Has anyone had any of these issues? It seems the folks at Carvin lined the electronic area with Copper Tape, but it does so little for the noise.
Any help would be appreciated here. I think the bass is just so beautiful and would hate to sell it before I can see it's true potential.

I want one!!! I LOVE my LEJ6(LowEndBasses.com) but need a 5er for my fulltime top 40 cover gigs.....Left hand is starting to hurt a lil.....How's the thickness on their necks? Thanx
Does the noise reduce when you touch the strings? Have you tried different electrical outlets and connecting cables? Have you checked that the shielding is properly soldered to a ground wire, and are the pickup shield wires also properly grounded? Just a few ideas and things to check.
I think the SB5000 neck profile is the best feeling 5 string neck profile I've played.
Kind of slim and wide, but not too slim and not too wide. Their porridge is just right
Does anyone know if you can get a different style headstock on the SB basses? I think I remember seeing one with an Icon style headstock a while ago, but their online ordering system doesn't list it as an option. I like the body style but the headstock is just fugly in my most humble opinion.
There have always been options available that aren't on the online ordering system. It has was an option to order a different headstock in the past, but some people have reported that Carvin is tying to get away from doing this. I don't know if that's true or not, but a call to Carvin is the best way to answer the question.
They offer an SB style headstock on the B series bolt-ons. In fact all of the B series basses in the current catalog have SB style headstocks, so I don't see why they wouldn't do the converse. I can understand them not wanting to offer an LB, Icon, BB, or Brian Bromerg style headstock because they are neck-through and it may take a little more effort. But when I call to order, I'll ask and if they give any resistance, I'll try to get someone who will accommodate me. It can't hurt to be a little pushy.

Since the SB is a signature bass they are trying to get away from that. I was told this by two Carvin reps. You can order one, but it will not be returnable if you do not like it within 10 days.
