My main axe is a Bromberg B24S; love it! I plan to order a 2nd 4-string Carvin set up with flat-wound strings. This bass will be my “old school” bass. The logical choice would be either a SB4000 or B40 with flats. However I have to say, I’ve fallen in love with the neck on my B24S and have toyed with the idea of ordering a second B24S with flats and basically living the EQ flat.

Question, any of you have a B24 and either own or have tried out a SB4000? How much more radically chucky is the SB compared to the B24? I know the B40 neck is supposed to be thinner than the SB so I’m keeping that model in mind as well. Then again, maybe a bass with a slightly different feel might be a good thing.

Feedback anyone?

Even if that thing sounds like rubber bands suspended between coconuts, I'm stuck with it for life since she bought it for me. Well, unless she dumps me, then I guess I can sell it. Of course then my for sale ad will say the instrument drips tone nectar of the gods :D

I am on the verge of landing a job after a very long period of unemployment. There are things that need immediate financial attention but when those are taken care of an SB5000 is on my short list. An MM/J pickup configuration is all I've decided on at this point. Multiple wood/finish options are being explored! :hiding: I may go with a walnut top because I had an LB75 with a the MM/J setup and it sounded just amazing. Incredible tight, full low end and great highs. Not too spanky forklike.

+1, I really dig that look and spec'd out one very similar as well. Sadly, still waiting on a full-time day gig before I order. Stupid !@#$%^&! economy... :bawl:

DougD, that's a sweet strap too! Mind if I ask where you picked that up?

Hang in there man. I've been three years without a regular full-time gig. Hopefully it's not that long of a wait for you.

I'm on the verge of two job offers right now funny enough. When it rains...bring an umbrella. :D
