Awww, come on man! I've gone a good two weeks without looking at Carvin bass porn and here ya go sucking me right back in! I think I need a 12-step program.

BTW, that bass is ridiculously hot!

Give us more! No need to be nice as long as you're honest. Tone, feel, build quality; how does it compare to your PBJ and SB? Don't hold back! ;)

One could do this without much effort. About $20 worth of parts...give or take.

Vol/Vol stack
Passive Tone with active/passive (push/pull)
Mid sweep
Treble/Bass stack

Best of both worlds?

And you connect all this how?
Does one need the schematics of the Carvin circuit board?
Would you like to share details, because I'd love to do this.

I'm curious about that as well but for my PB.

Well...the stacked volume pots just replaced the 2 volume pots. The passive tone is wired just like Sadowsky's, from the output of volume and using a 500k audio taper pot and a .047uf cap. I'm pretty sure that you can just wire to the existing (not used on 3 band) passive tone knob spot on the circuit board. I remember seeing a .047uf cap installed on my preamp. The push/pull active/passive is wired pretty much the same as Sadowsky, too. All diagrams can be found on Sadowsky website. But, I had to relocate C2 (470uf @ 16v if memory serves) due to the push/pull pot. I will get some gut shots up here in a couple of days. I suppose the passive tone knob can be pretty cool at times....I guess.

That SB5000 is gone already. What a looker. Somebody's going to be happy.

UPS says due next Wednesday :hiding: ....:D

I'm feeling like a Carvin pimp right about now :)

Jarrett you got me in big trouble yesterday. :p Especially since I already have a PB5 on order. When I was choosing a color for the PB I was really stuck on the Umberburst vs Orangeburst and I ended up choosing Umber. But when I saw this one..... Got. to. have. it.

I told my wife not to worry because Carvin has a 10 day return policy so when the PB arrives I'll just return it, no problem! She didn't buy that for a second. Anyway, I have two savings funds going on right now - one for a new bass and one for a riding mower. Looks like I'll be mowing my lawn with my little toro push mower again this season...

Finally getting some decent photos of my current SB5000.

Burled maple on swamp ash. Sunset burst finish. Birdseye maple board.
