But the cat didn't break off the chase. After pausing, it chased the dog around the other side of the car until it was clear the dog was no longer going to be a threat.

It chased as long as the dog ran. From what I understand the dog came back that is why the woman leaves the kid for a time, to make sure the dog did not attack the other kids in the garage. She got bit too.

I had a cat who loved to "nest" in my Bass case. Would raise all sorts of hell till I opened it.
