Once again I'm in my late 70' -early 80's ( True) Funk Bass players of my era and Cedric Martin more than held his own with the best of them. Cedric layed down some of the coldest bass lines than there ever was during this period . Ladies Wild and I'll get you back were just a couple of tunes that were my favorite, however there was a lot more of material that Confunk shun did that was "hard hitt'en to say the least !

Very funky player. Their album 'Touch' has some great lines - sounds like a jazz bass?

...recently picked up Con Funk Shun's 1st two albums (on Mercury) on 1-cd. Tight band.

Nice liner notes included.
On their debut, in addition to the '70s-esque Funk, they also pull off a great job of sounding like Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes.

Been awhile since I heard that one.
In the '70s, I did see these guys open for Johnny "Guitar" Watson.
Martin was not playing a Fender...it was some kinda natural wood bass with the headstock in a 2+2 config.
He also turned his cabinet facing backwards (I recall seeing a local bassist in a horn band do the same during a HS dance).
Con Funk Shun sounded 'just like the record' when I heard them.
