Celinder Basses?

Well I would agree with you on the fact there are plenty of great builders here in the States.. I've owned 2 Sadowskys, 3 Lulls, 6 Laklands and numerous others over the years and each of these companies has TERRIFIC customer service and build great products.. That being said the Celinders just feel right for me.. When I first strapped one on, it felt like home...:bassist:
The Celinder pickups and the preamp may be voiced more in the mids, but the bass boost/cut and the tone control is where the moneys at... Also the rig I use which consists of a Kern Preamp, QSC PLX-2402 power amp and Bergantino HT-322, everything just rocks...

...no dont be sorry...like I said at near the beginning...I did not chime in about this until it was mentioned before me a few times already in the thread...obviously there are others who have had some at least significant problems with them and I thought it would be a good opportunity to maby help save someone potential disaster..thats the only thing I can show of value over this whole thing....
I dont want you to feel bad..so when I get my Celinder in the mail I'll let you know!!!;)

Well I contacted a few dealers who are waiting for Celinders to arrive...
Bass Alone (619)226-1257 have a few listed on his site, but I didn't check with John yet.. The Amp Exchange (818)386-5500 is waiting for a few 4 strings and a 5'er this month, Justin works there and he's previously from the L.A. BassExchange... I may also jump on that 5'er myself... And last but not least, Glenn at Austin BassTraders is waiting for two 4 strings and a 5er in January... If interested give em a call... Steve...

Hey..thanks for the info I'll check out the sites....its going to take an immediate recovery of a bass or my money to make we want to even play/keep one....

As to why anyone from North America would buy a bass from Europe? Because I played bass after bass at the 2003 NAMM show & none of them, including Lull, Lakeland & Sadowsky, came close to the quality, sound & ease of playing of the Celinder. Hands down.
I wanted to buy it right there but it was already sold. 2 months later I found it was sold to the Amp Shop here in L.A. I went in, played it & bought it. It's my main bass now. I also own a '65 Jazz, 2 Tobias basses (orig 6 str classic & 5 str Killer B). The Celinder has a great, deep tight sound & a killer slap sound a la Marcus Miller. It's sound characteristic is very similar to my 65 Jazz but with a more refined & silkier high end. I know they take a long time if you order them. I have talked to Christian & he is a great builder & seems to be a nice guy but not the best business man. They were so busy they didn't even go to this years Mussik Messe in Germany. I owned a Vintage Jazz V, and I really liked the bass, overall. It was well made, solid, played very well, and had a variety of workable tones. I bought the bass from a private individual that I believe endorsed them. Great bass. I only dealt with Chris Celinder one time, and he was courteous and helpful.

Some years ago, I foolishly traded my J-Update 4 for a bass which I thought would be "the one," but which subsequently moved on to someone else. Since then, I've been hoping (but not expected) to buy back that J-Update 4 some day. Well, thanks to rexnarticus, I have it back! Thanks again, Jon! It killed on the gig this past weekend (until the battery died, LOL):

That's cool, there maybe 1 or 2 of my old Celinders that would be nice to have back.. I'm really loving my MBasses and Valenti's right now.. There is a Sadowsky I would like to get back though..

I just picked this 1997 piece recently.....one of the best decisions I’ve made. This bass is the best of the several Celinders I’ve had and in the top 3 four stringers I’ve owned. Rio(Brazilian Dalbergia Nigra), alder , 60s pos, cp-III a,
Cel pups and bridge. I’ve owned several Updates but never a 60s style Celinder.

I acquired this one on Black Friday. I dropped my son off at the bus stop and figured that since I was out pretty close to the opening time of the store - and it was on the way - I would drop in to grab a set of strings and see what else was there. This was there.

Apparently it has led an interesting life. @basses55 has promised to provide me with the details at some future time. For the moment, I can't believe how good this thing is.
