No, you wouldn't. Your hand is already above the strings, with your thumb in line with the roller controls. Yes, you would reach over to roll one of them, but you wouldn't need to reach "up and over;" you're already "up."
Okay then, let's not split hairs over how far "up" one needs to go, with how far "down" one needs to go. I'll concede the two inch difference. Point being, you still have to entirely move your hand from playing position to the controls, then back again with either setup. They look equidistant to me. I mean, what are we trying to do here....change settings at lightning speed so we can shred chords on the downstroke like guitards....or play bass?
