Chambered air burst

Hi. A while back I tried three chambered basses from very high quality brands and found that I kept hearing this deep and powerful air burst that overwhelmed and muffled the sound, in a way that my hollow body Kay bass or even my semi hollow Thinline Telecaster guitar do not. To my ear it rendered unusable what would otherwise have been a great instrument. Does anyone else experience this?

I ask because I’ve found a bass online that is perfect for me in every way except it is chambered, and I am afraid to order it. I welcome guidance.
