Change hardware plating?

Can nickel or chrome plating of hardware (pickup covers, bridge, etc.) be redone in gold colored plating? If so, how is this done?

Its pretty easy and fairly cheap, at the car dealership a guy came in with a little kit, painted on a solution, then held two electrodes on either side of the emblam and it turned from chrome to gold.

I worked as an engineer in the electroplating and electroforming industry for a while. While technically it can be done, you'll have a hard time finding a place to do it. Most companies won't want to deal with you because they only deal business to business and not direct to consumers. If they are willing, you will likely be charged more than what a replacement hardware would cost. Your best bet is to look for smaller shops that do work for custom motorcycle builders and hotroders.

Ps i agree, your best bet is either that...or go to where you bought your car and ask to speak to the head detailer. give him your name and number and ask him to pass it along to who they use. Im sure the guy would be glad to take your parts, do the job and give it back in a few days for some cash under the table. I would guess like 50-70$

Another thing to consider is that since you don't know for sure what the base metals of your pieces are, the shop won't be able to guarantee adhesion. Also, moving metallic parts that cannot be disassembled run the risk of being plated together.
