For band names, I like to read (rather obscure) literature and take something good-sounding from there. I like dystopia and there are quite some books that aren't that popular, so chances of it being taken are slim.
One of my best band names I got from Goethe's Faust, lol.
Yes, please also keep in mind that this is a death metal band. like the previously mentioned "i drink from satan's chalice" would actually be pretty cool if it wasn't so long.
Doesn't seem to have held them back terribly badly though.
More important now with internet names etc.

What about umlauts? Are they verboten in death metal?
Which do you think is going to bring up more relevant things in a google search? Your band is called, "The Beetles", you search for beetles.....you get thousands of irrelevant results, you're called, "The Beatles", you search for beatles, you get all relevant results.
