Local place names have worked out well for even big bands - Chicago, Boston, etc.

Well, Chicago was originally Chicago Transit Authority and got sued by the city to change it. So you do need to be careful about that.

Take the time to find a band name with a primary web adddress.

"clowncadaver.com" is much stronger than "clown-cadaver-theband.com"

I personally find naming a band alot harder when your band does not conform to any genre, just thought i would say that. As for a name in your genre, sorry to say none come to mind at the moment, but i'll say that my Lamb of God influenced band is called 3 Shakes of a Lambs Tail (3SLT for short) if you can take any inspiration from that.

Not so much that it defines their music, but as far as catchy goes it's got it in spades. It's one of those names that sinks into people's heads to stay. A very musical pronunciation with simple terms put together in a creative and memorable way. Even if someone has never heard Megadeth, they have most likely heard of them. That's what it's all about.
