changing my pickups help!!!

Howzt bass players.
I need some help. I got an
IBANEZ BTB 405, I hate the
tone that it's giving me. Theres
no proper note definition when i
play and sometimes it gets to
bassie. I wanted to chang my
pickups. please help on what
should i do or which pickups
should I go for. THANKS.

Usually backing off the pickup screws will get them closer. The last Ibanez I worked on I added thicker denser foam to get the pickups close enough. A good starting place is about 1/8 to 3/16" from the bottom of the string to the pickupI barely had enough thread on the pickups screws though so you might have to purchase new longer pickup mounting screws? This made a ton of differece in its tone.
