There is a noise that only disappears when I touch the strings or something else metallic on the bass. My luthier has tried to fix it, he has done everything but the problem still remains. So, he has said that there was nothing else to do than changing the preamp. What's the issue with your current preamp?
Exchange ?? So, I won't be able to use the bass for weeks ??!!Agree John East makes great preamps.
But EBMM can help you with a replacement. They generally don't sell them as parts but they do sell them as replacement so they'll want to exchange the new one for yours.

Don't know how long. Shipping is fast. But last time I needed that service they required the old part for new. Just call and ask.Exchange ?? So, I won't be able to use the bass for weeks ??!!

You need to have another luthier take a look at that problem. There is a noise that only disappears when I touch the strings or something else metallic on the bass. Tape is not going to shield the pickups from any noise, and neither would a pickup cover.Have you tried covering up the polepieces with tape to see if that rectifies the issue? If so, you could probably find a cover for the pickup.
