Cheaters

I'll give you that Cheesie. I know you're on the job, and this is a touchy subject considering your career and all. I've been smoking everyday since I was 12, that's 34 years. While it's not right for everyone, it works for me. I'm a law abiding citizen(other than that), taxpayer, community volunteer etc. I have a good job and function at a pretty high level for a "drug addict". I admit, I'm addicted, but it's in the privacy of my own home and I try to keep it on the down low. I tried paxil, zoloft, & wellbutrin to deal with my depression, MJ just works better for me. Personally I think persecuting Ricky Williams is hippocritical, considering all the "legal" drugs that players use to kill pain etc., so they can play. It's all ok, as long as the Doc writes a scrip ? That can get to be abusive too. My dad got strung out for years on percocet/dan after a bad back surgery, because the doc kept treating the symptoms instead of the problem. When it came time to stop, he couldn't & he's never been the same since. One of the most brilliant automotive minds I ever met, before, now.....useless. My point is the "source" of the drug bares little consequence as to whether someone becomes addicted to said drug. Or, how bad it will eventually affect them.

Buzz..just so no one misunderstands, this is not my "official" position, but my personal one. I could honestly care less if people want to smoke dope. It doesn't matter to me in the least. I'm just about as libertarian as someone in my position can be. If I'm off duty, you'd pretty much have to be shooting at me to get me to take any "official" action. In their wisdom (or lack thereof), our lawmakers have decided to make marijuana illegal. When on duty, I have no choice but to enforce that.

I won't argue with anyone that there are people that smoke daily that are perfectly functional. I will also argue that there are people that smoke daily that are a waste of space, as a direct result of their heavy smoking. While the same can be said for alcholol and other substances, I don't think one is any WORSE than the other. (heavy pot smokers almost ALWAYS post on threads like this that alchohol is much worse) I'd say it is no worse, but much more prevelant. Anyway, until our lawmakers change the laws (and BTW...it is decriminalized here in Ohio....less than 100 grams just gets you a ticket...equal to a traffic ticket), thats just the way it is I guess.

Oh, and you only hear about some little parts of it.
Drug tests are only for older, less expensive drugs.
The newly researched ones, however...

I agree. They are just now catching up with what Bonds, McGwire, Palmeiro, and Sosa were doing five and 10 years ago. Who knows what we'll find out in 2016.

Cheese, I find your attitude and views on the subject refreshing. Especially since you do what you do for a living. And as far as the booze goes, alcoholism runs rampant in both sides of my family. So, I've seen the evils there too. Anything that gets you buzzed, is fine, with some restraint. But the people who think their on a higher level (pun intended) because they get their buzz via the Doctor make me sick. They're no better than me or anyone else. Rush Limbaugh comes to mind. As compared to booze, yes, it's dumb that pot isn't legal. Crap all they'd have to do is put a tax on it, like cigarettes, and the national debit would disappear.
