Sold my martin acoustic guitar a few days ago to buy myself a tacoma thunderchief. Bought a nice one off ebay at a good price from a used guitar seller in dallas tx. they shipped it fast, got here in two days..fedex just dropped it off and i opened her up to find:

went back and read the places return policy and they give you store credit...looks like i just got f'd in the a...any ideas? i sent them a msg and am awaiting a response.

Was it insured? Usually there is an automatic amount of insurance, then the sender can increase that amount to match the value of the item.

Did the seller insure it for its value?
 
heres what i sent:

"Got the bass today..the headstock is broke off from the neck from
shipping..did you detune the strings before you shipped it? i need to know
how to go about sending it back and getting a refund"

heres what i got back:

"Do not discard any packaging.

Yes of course it was detuned. Per our terms, you will need to
cooperate with the damage claim. Please await further
instruction, this may take a few days"

Good, they are filing a damage claim for you.

Unfortunate mishap, but all you can do now is be patient and wait for the claims process.

BTW, don't expect the seller to be making any kind of refund (yet). They didn't break your bass, the shipper did.

Next correspondence you have with the seller, you need to ask if they had the bass insured for what you paid for it.
