Can I get a number? I have my first US, Chi'd Lakland coming end of the week.

Here it is. Just got it today.
Now I had to sell my two Skylines to get this.
I HAD a Skyline Glaub, and an Indo-PLEK JO5.
Compared to the JO5 this bass, with the CHIs seem to have a "fuller" sound. Almost "bigger".
But as I noticed with my old Skyline JO I had retro-fitted with Chis last year. For slapping it does not seem to have that "snap". Crisp high end.
Has anyone else noticed that?

I haven't noticed anything with slapping on these, since I never slap on my fretless and rarely on a fretted.

Did I ever join this?

I'm not sure whose passive J-Sonic 5 I like better, yours or Doug's. It's a toughy!

Love it dude! I'm not a slapper, but seems to me the high end is there, juts not as sharp.

Hey Gecko is your bass passive?


I've played a few active Chi equipped Laklands and they worked perfect for slapping. I own a Lakland with 3 Chi-singles and it works just fine for slapping(and it's active).


One thing to take into account if you haven't.,is that the magnets on the Chi's are stronger than the none Chi Laklands. If your Chi-pickups are to close to the strings that will indeed mess with it's tonal out put. It would sound like you have very bad compression on it. Try lowering the pickups accordingly and see what happens from there.

It is in deed passive.
I've only played it at the shop.
I sold my amp to get the bass(I'm not gigging right now)
