Guys (and girls, of course), I have a question and since I can't ask my one and only friend and have a hard time confiding in other people I personally know, this is the only place to ask.

I just started my second semester of college, and because I don't have any friends left over from high school (or anywhere else for that matter), I was hoping to meet some new people at school. However, I can already see the same pattern emerging as in high school - I go to my classes and then go home, without having said a single word to anybody in the interim. I'm not good at approaching people or making friends or acquaintances, and so far as dating goes, it's a sparse landscape.

Now, I know I'm not pretty, but I don't think I'm that bad looking, and I've seen people who look a lot worse and are doing just fine. I'm pretty friendly, always willing to help, intelligent, and interesting (if you have things in common with me). I hold my head up high and act confident, and I'm willing to give practically anyone a chance, or the benefit of the doubt.

However, nobody ever approaches me or wants to talk, or can even carry on a conversation on the rare chance that I start one. Nobody even shows any interest. What is wrong with me? What is it that pushes people away like this? I am sorry for the lengthy post and for asking this sort of question, but I really am beginning to wonder.

Self confidence will kick cute's ass everytime with me. Just be yourself, and be TRUE to yourself. Everything will happen in it's own time.

A major portion of my friend base is because I'm a big ol' geek girl. My closest friend I met through Live Action Role Playing. Finding a group that's into the same things you are is the best way to get to know people. Same thing with the kink community.

on another note can someone help me find where I said I'd be giving out paddles? I confused.

With. No contest. Are you sure that's even the same chick? I already want to talk to the chick in the "with" pic about gear. She seems cool.

The without pic looks like she should be anchoring the local news channel. Very pretty, but no thanks..."and now, back to you, but first here is our "eye in the sky" traffic copter with a report of an accident on I-285 near the I-20W exchange, Dave..."

Yes, same chick :D

It's Natalie Maines

Rainy day here today in RI after a spectacular weekend. Someone else has mentioned 'spectacular' in this thread but I won't go there.

Anyway, on the drive in to work, I started thinking about this thread again. Then I came up with a slogan. Sig. Whatever.

I think I will have a T shirt made up. What do you think?

Low
Loud
Proud

That's on the cool side, there Thor.
If you work the fonts 3Dish, you could make it look like Low and Proud kinda coming together and getting Loud, haha.
I can see this in my minds-eye, but my brain doesn't have a USB port. Believe me, it's cool :D

Classy. Let's all promote "tolerance" while comparing anyone who does not find men in drag hot to projectile vomit. Or suggesting they prefer a totalitarian state.

For all of the acceptance and anti-hater hate this post is trying to accomplish, it has just as much negativity.

Sir, back to work with ye - your Two minutes Hate is now concluded.

Maybe you should reread the analogy. I didn't compare anyone to vomit. It's been no secret how many posts have had to be deleted because they've been nothing but insulting and negative. Thor has been on some serious clean-up duty all over this board. The analogy was comparing the insulting posts to the vomit with Thor being the poor janitor that had to mop it all up. Make sense? Sometimes things sound better in my head than they do when I type them out. :hmm:
Suggesting that they prefer a totalitarian state? Well, I guess that was a suggestion...maybe more of a question. I'm having a hard time understanding why someone would take the time to post something just to make someone else feel bad. To me it feels like these people expect everyone to think and conform to what they feel is 'normal' or 'attractive' and anyone who doesn't shouldn't be made to feel bad and like they don't belong. I feel like they want to impose their opinions as facts, and I'm trying to figure out why...not that I expect any of them to answer...but I guess according to what you're saying, I'm just as much of a hater...so maybe I should analyze myself...
Thanks for not taking the time to read or understand my post as it was intended. Thanks for taking the extra time to make me feel bad and asking me to leave. Thank you for telling me that I failed at what I was trying to accomplish. I really appreciate that. It's a bit of a validation for the feeling that I don't actually belong, and that concern becomes somewhat valid as opposed to just paranoia.
p.s. "Sir" doesn't really apply to me.

O

M

G

I spent most of my lunch listening to Tbird's band, and...O. M. G.!

I don't want to sound condescending, but kids, this is how I grew-up. This is how it's done. And the bass tone rules the show. Feel the thunder? Played with confidence and authority & showmanship. I wouldn't care if they wore monkey suits, they rock. Bands like this are what used to become the stadium filling bands.
Damn you MTV, Damn you to hell!
