Chinese ebay Music Man pickguard FAIL

Had the exact same problem with a CH pickguard from Amazon that supposed to fit a Fender Jazz Bass. Slightly too small just like that, more or less.

Personally I've had good luck with WDMusic, so if you want any oddball pickguard for that ray that EBMM doesn't make, they're a good call (Invalid Link Removed)

I knew a guy who made prototype pick guards for a few guitars and basses but he used guitars he had on hand as templates. He wanted to go into business making them and was looking for a partner, (me) but he discovered the problems with mass production and differing tolerances between even the same make and model depending on where they were made and when they were made.

Obviously those problems were of no concern to the Chinese pick guard makers.

"I'm shocked...SHOCKED to hear that inferior products are being produced in China!"

On the other hand, I just found a MM double humbucker guard I bought aeons ago for something. I stuck it over the pickup on my SUB and it was el-perfecto. I happen to have a nice S-D alnico pickup laying around and it's just a SUB, I think you see where this is going...
