Choosing a new Mobo for my new DAW???

The first part of your post pretty much answers the second part.
64bit Operating Systems, when I last looked at them, were terrible even for basic things like Word Processing! Never mind handing applications like Cubase, even Quake 3 ran badly on top range 64bit machines! This was originally due to poor drivers on the vendors part (which has improved greatly as of late), but I've never really looked at the driver support for specialized audio equipment. It'd be terrible to be working and then suddenly get a major driver failure or have to work with slow/poorly developed drivers. :p

I'm not sure what OS you're looking at, but that's never been true. (Even if you're talking about Windows) 64-bit operating systems have been around quite a few years. Our Sun and HP machines at work have been running 64-bit for many years. Our Linux machines haven't been running 64-bit for as long, but that said, we have zero problems with them.

What you're encountering here is video driver problems. Writing drivers for a 64-bit operating system is similar to the situation with writing multi-threaded applications. The situation (for Windows anyway) is getting better all the time.

You should've tried playing Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory on Windows XP 64 with an ATI Graphics card a few years back. You were better off shooting your self in the face. :D

Having talked to a programmer friend, he's explained the full advantages of x86-64 over 32. Apparently XP64 has a better kernal than XP32 does. It "polices" it's self to protect against kernal attacks...Or something. Extra address space is good too. So I'm now sold on XP64 for DAWs. :>

This is true. At the time I tried a 64-bit version of XP drivers were terrible. Infact they're still quite sub-par from what they could be if people moved to 64-bit. Problem is that the majority of folks are using 32-bit XP, so the main support you'll want is there. Stuff like Vista, Vista 64 and XP 64 kind of gets pushed back...Specially when ATI's on the case. Nvidia aren't so bad...But, point taken. ;)
