Thanks all,
i got my neo mistress back to the shop. Too much noisy when on, they will trouble check it. Is it a normal issue with that pedal?
And I almost tried a freeze by the same way. I don’t know yet if I want a freeze or a Looper.
I had a looper before a sustain and I'm glad I did, because it opened my eye to what was possible and I would not have both if I had gone the other way. However, everything I did with a looper was more...involved. Because of that, I didn't end up using it as often as I thought. I think the sustain is more versatile (for me) because I can use it in such a simple way, that I end up using it more. I use it all the time since getting the Gamechanger, actually. It's just a beautiful ambiance. If I'd gotten that first, I probably would never have looked further to a looper.
Knowing what I know now, if I could only get one, it would be a good sustain that can layer. Because it's useful whether I'm doing rich stuff or just basic stuff. A looper is not as good (for me) for really basic stuff because there's always the "Okay, now I'm gonna set up the loop" part, where I have just deadness behind it. In fact, I find I use my looper more now BECAUSE of the sustain, since I can hold a note or multi-note layer while I'm creating an ostinato, and it's not so obvious that things have suddenly stopped while I'm creating a loop. In fact, the combination of a sustain behind a building ostinato creates a nice movement and transition.
For me, the looper is something I'm building on after the sustain. Although, again, I'm glad I went looper first, because if I'd started with the Gamechanger, I might not have ever bought another pedal (It's just that good
