Chorus/Flanger

Hi Guys,

Was wondering what settings you use on Chorus and Flanger pedals?

I know there are a number of different makes out there, but, apart from quality, I assume roughly the same sounds can be achieved, from the same four controls on any pedal? or am I wide of the mark?

I was just wondering what settings can be used for different types of playing style and genre?

In particular, I am trying to get my head around the Mick Karn sound and playing style.

I own a danelectro fab chorus pedal and it's really awesome sounding for a chorus pedal that costs $15. anywho, this is my usual setting for my chorus pedal.

Speed: 10:00
Depth: 1:00
Mix: 1:00

This setting gives me a smooth lushful setting. this setting also sounds awesome when I combine my chorus pedal with my digitech bass driver. I do like combining distortion with chorus. it gives me a grungy but heavy sound. I play hard rock and heavy metal and this sound suits me well. if you're asking this because you're in a market for a good chorus pedal, there's plenty of chorus pedals out there. and danelectro chorus pedal is one of them.

i use 'little angel' clone for chorusing,and mostly the settings depend on a song and ESPECIALLY the size/look of the venue i'm playing in...though i never use high depth settings,the 'speed' differs...chorus for bass is the trickiest to pull in a live mix...then again,i use it only for certain parts of the song like over a guitar solo,or bridge etc.
as for flanging...dunno...i'm using mxr phase90 with the slowest setting,and it works better then some flangers i tried.. + it's a very versatile pedal...it' like 3 fx in one
you should try out different chorus/flanger pedals to see what suits you,and which one works better with your gear

Well, they don't all have four controls. Plus, some serious digital units have absurd numbers of adjustable parameters. I mean, like my head just explodes trying to understand what they even mean.

Most chorus pedals I've opened up have the same pair of essential chips (the numbers of which escape me at the moment), so sound quality seems pretty close. Some have an MFX engine chip like the CoolAudio v1000 with only the chorus effect enabled.
