In my experience and practical application of devices like flanges, choruses, phasers, etc., if you are looking to maintain consistency and heft in the low end while the effect is engaged, there is very little value in having these effects process the frequency range much below 200hz, perhaps even a little higher. Again, the previous statement is the qualifying statement. Broadband (full frequency range) effects are fine for midrange-based instruments that don't have much going on in the low frequency spectrum.
One suggestion is to implement a device that that allows the sub-200hz range to pass through un-effected. You'll not notice a significant difference in the effect itself, and you won't have the low-end tone suck or bottom-dropping-out problems inherent with a lot of stomp effects of this sort. There are some more sophisticated effects that allow you to parallel blend chorus effects, and apply HPF to restrict the frequency range. Not sure which ones do this in a pedal format.
I get around this problem with an Iron Ether Divaricator, with my special effects in its ext FX loop that includes a variable crossover to maintain the uneffected low end, and blending the effected high end with it. IMHO it works perfectly to globally remedy the problems with low-end loss due to effects of all kinds.
