The Protone Raven dirty chorus is pretty amazing. It has a built in fuzz and the chorus is switchable to a tremelo effect. The pedal is designed to sound pretty dark and foreboding on most settings, so it may not fit your personal uses, and the fuzz is not overwhelming but works quite well.
I picked up a Boss PS-5 Phase Shifter for kicks one day and lo and behold... the Detune mode was AWESOME for chorus and very similar to the Clone Theory. I used that as my chorus for quite a while, until I heard about John Fromel's Seraph, which was a revision of the old Boss DC-2 Dimension C (rare and expensive these days). It's a fantastic chorus, has earned a permanent spot on my pedalboard, and the custom case John did for it (see below) is awesome, with 3 color changing LEDs.I like my Clone Theory, I don't mind the noise because it's not noticeable in a full band context, hell the hum from guitarists amps is usually enough to drown it out...
The raven's tremelo setting gives you a 70's - 80's halloween movie themed sound but with the fuzz in it. The chorus was designed to sound like a godflesh ministry (a Paul Raven) type of sound, dark and foreboding, with the fuzz in it. The fuzz is always there and is pretty decent in conjunction with the chorus or trem.
...lots of guys would say the Analogman Clone Chorus w/Deep Switch (or the Bi-Chorus version of this box)...
If you can find an old Danelectro Cool Cat Chorus (the 18v version), grab it. It's a great chorus pedal for bass.
I've got one of those you could buy if you like (yep, the 18V version), but I don't have the power supply for it... I think Guitar Center has Dunlop 18v supplies?
