Chris Alexander w/ Samantha Fish

She's really great. Saw her live once before you know what.
We did some shows with Samantha Fish, I dug Chris's playing, nice people too.
Must admit I have wanted to play bass with her since the first time I saw/heard her , she was all of twenty at the time .
Ive followed her since 2010 at least and not surprised at her success...Chris is great as well but she's changed lineups a lot thru the years....Chris is in Austin right now but he carried the SVT and the vintage J bass for years with Samantha and they always sounded great!
Saw Samantha Fish last weekend, and her current touring bass player, Ron Johnson, is pretty tight...

mikezimmerman, do you happen to know Heather Newman from Omaha?
Heather is playing with Go Go Ray (Samanthas long time drummer) around KC some...i love her piano duo she does just her on bass and her piano player....she had Ben Curran on guitar but he recently moved to Nashville...Ben is from Omaha as well.
I'm familiar with both Heather and Ben's playing, but don't know them personally.
Heather can be shy but shes a big animal lover like myself...i dont know either very well...Heather had one song hit like 250,000 likes on youtube...more of a raw blues singer like Etta James at times but her new stuff is more R&B....did you know she played in a band with Eric Burton of Black Pumas years back?

KC has such a great blues scene it seems, the Schnebelen siblings are awesome. Danielle is one of my favorite singers these days. I also dig what Heather Newman is doing.
It’s because it’s blues. Blues is popular but not “big” in the commercial sense.
And she definitely put in the time and paid her dues. Within her genre she’s recognized as being legit.
Its a shame that Kris Schnebelen passed away recently from cancer....he didnt make it a year from diagnosis...he left behind a fiance and 3 children....Trampled Under Foot was one of the blues bands that managed to break thru in much of Europe....then along came Samantha who really spends a lot of time in Europe touring as well as the USA.
Europe has always supported blues artists but guitar bands in general seem to do well over there where the USA is a lot of computer generated music of sorts.
She’s got a very good vocal style with lots of genuine passion . Her version of Nina Simone’s “Either Way I lose “ ( think that’s the correct title ? And artist ? ) was really fine . It’s about an hour in and followed by a Jr Kimbrough song that shows how difficult it is to truly reproduce or improve on Jr’s own versions . No shame in that of course as even the Black Keys couldn’t really manage that task well despite adding Kenny Brown of Jr’s band in for added authenticity on their tribute to RL and Junior . For woman blues style guitarists I think it’s hard to beat Sue Foley and Laura Chavez is darn good too though much lessor known . Thanks to the OP a for the great video - it was very enjoyable …. I didn't know Kris died, he was Samantha's boyfriend when we did those shows with her. Trampled Under Foot was were I first heard Danielle, they were awesome with two excellent singers in the band.
