Chris Squire Has Passed On..... So Sad...

Very sad about chris, yes can not continue without squire. There is a picture of chris and myself floating around the talkbass archives somewhere. I could not believe how large his hands were when I met him, im talking George foreman size hands! Rest in peace chris. the LEAD bassist!

Hearing the bass line on Roundabout for the first time was for me what I imagine hearing Jimi Hendrix for the first time was like for many guitar players. An epiphany. I didn't know you could play a bass like that.

The word unique is used too much and often incorrectly, but it applies to Chris Squire and his contribution to music.
He will be sorely missed.

A school friends older brother introduced me to Yes,ELP and Jethro Full. I saw Yes several years ago. It was their first time playing in Vermont and it was the original lineup at an outdoor venue. I remember the moon climbing up behind the stage that night. Just a perfect evening. I remember them doing a stripped down version of roundabout. Just awesome! Such talent. Thank you for the memories.

I have seen yes live 4 times now. Every time I have seen them I have discovered a little bit more from his performance.
He always seemed to really enjoy performing. Moreso the last couple of times I've seen him.

Saw them last year, I can't help thinking that regardless of other personnel changes it can't be the same band after this.

Have actually played Fish out of water on vinyl a couple of times this week.

I am so sad. As with many of you, hearing "Roundabout" on the radio in the 70's blew my mind. In high school, I saved money from my job at a grocery store to buy a Rickenbacker because of Chris Squire. His passion, tone, beautiful voice, and songwriting have brought me so much joy over the years. Thank you for the memories!

I just listened to his composition "Onward" from Tormato. Onward.....
