Pulled out the Fly from Here CD yesterday and listening to it was like an old good friend. I think it is an excellent Yes album. Anyone else dig that record?

I can never get all the way through it, but the first two parts of the title track are great at least. I actually prefer Benoit David's voice to Jon Anderson's![]()
There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.
― William Shakespeare, Hamlet
Just give it more time, Hamlet. I wasn't nuts about it at first but it really grew on me...and after all, I think many of us have felt that way about quite a few Yes albums.
I listened to Close To The Edge last night, which is my favorite Yes album, and it occurred to me that Squire was/is a total musical 'bully.' It's like his instrument was fighting with every other instrument in the band. And winning. He's got a tone that doesn't NEED a kick drum. HE, CHRIS SQUIRE, determines the cadence and rhythm of the song....the drummer can just try to keep up. And his tone battles directly with the guitar too. Squire occupies a massive space in that mix. If it were a basketball game, Squire would be in the center of the key, swinging elbows.
2nd time..YES [ FRAGILE tour].. Yes was warm-up for Emerson Lake and Palmer [TARKUS tour]

Fragile and Tarkus are both great albums.I would have loved to see that show. I've seen Yes several times, but never got to see ELP live. Several of my friends saw ELP on the Brain Salad Surgery tour in quad and said it was an amazing show.
I second this. Actually, something about Squire's style that doesn't get mentioned much is where he puts rests. He actually underplays a lot and puts very interestingly placed rests in his bass lines, it something that I think is very unique about him. An immediate example of him placing notes in interesting spots is the bass line for "Wonderous Stories".
