No they do not, far from it.

A new set of Roto flats has piles more, but it dies down.
A set of TI's, new or old, has quite a bit more.
Labellas(not the Jamerson set), have a comparable top end, maybe a little more.

I guess I should have said 'any other flats I have tried' which includes Ernie Ball, D'Aquisto, and GHS. I can't imagine flats with more highs than Chromes, might as well get rounds

Along with the highs, flats also have more mids (Talking about the bright ones (Rotos, Chromes)).

Oh now i understand you...its not 'clack" its the brightness of chromes you were talking about Yea, they are brighter than some flats but it wears off quickly ...trust me. Thats one reason allot of guys like chromes they are not a dull thud.
TI Jazz flatts which i also play and am a fan of are also very bright for flats but not clacky. I guess us old folks just mis understood your young un' terms So no, your gear isnt junk...never said that (setup) and technique might not be the question. Yes! ..a break thru!

So, you're confusing high end "twang" with clack.

May also be a setup issue. Changing strings without a setup can result in some unexpected issues, like frets getting in the way that weren't in the way before. Maybe?

This is exactly the reason why I like the Chromes. I didn't switch to flats to get rid of all the high-end zing necessarily; in fact, I like them for retaining some of the characteristics of the rounds unlike some of the more traditional flats.

What I do love about the Chromes, though, is what they don't have, i.e. finger noise. They also allow a lower action than the rounds without the buzzing due to their slightly stiffer nature, not to mention the fact they last so much longer than the rounds.

These sure weren't, as they didn't have blue silks on them. Are you saying EB makes strings for D'adarrio, or the other way around? I thought EB had their own factory?

EB definitely make their own rounds in their own factory, but the flats are either made by EB for D'Addario or vice versa.

That kind of "sharing" is not unusual in the string industry.
