Cioks DC7 heat?

Hi all,

I'm getting quite a bit of heat from my new Cioks DC7, is this normal? I've attached my setup

Mine gets a tiny bit warm if I forget to turn the power off and it stays on all night, but nothing out of the ordinary. Maybe it's the increased current draw from the Stomp.

Depending on how much cumulative draw your pedals demand the CIOKS/Eventide can run from Luke warm to quite hot. Paul Cioks told me they are designed to be able to run quite hot.

Given what you have on your board the dc7 shouldn't even break a sweat, whats the draw for that line 6 pedal?

I'd double check output amperage for each output & pedal. I own the Eventide version and don't have any heat issues.

I’ve got the Eventide version, and it gets warm to the touch. I’m currently running a Shure GLXD6 receiver, a Line 6 HX Effects, a Seymour Duncan Studio Bass, and a Tech 21 DI-2112 (@18v) with mine. I also am using the USB out to power the charger for my Shure wireless batteries.

Mine got warm. It was under a Nano so not a lot of room for ventilation I guess.

Mine is currently under a Metro 24, but prior to that it was under a Novo 18. Got warm there too.

I just got done playing and (after seeing this thread again) felt the unit (Eventide Powermax/DC7) mounted under my pedalboard. It was just lightly warmer than room temp. Either you have a "bad one" or are not using it properly. Either way, CIOKS should take care of you. Good luck!

It looks like all your pedals are high current draw digital units. Assuming the Cioks uses a linear power supply and linear regulators, then yes, as the total current draw goes up, so does the heat generated.

Paul Cioks told me they are designed to be able to run quite hot.

There you go...I wouldn't worry about it personally.

I’ve been using the smaller dc5 For a few years. It’ll get hot especially for really long rehearsal days. But it’s never been an issue.
