Found this on CL: http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/msg/4828899641.html I've been itching for a P-bass for a while and I love natural finished basses however, this guy has some damage to the fretboard around the nut. Is it worth it? I would eventually buy a new neck, but do you think it'll hold up for now if I string it up, or is it not worth it for the money? Any thoughts would be appreciated
An Afinity with chunk of wood missing..$75.00? No, you can get a good used one for that or pay a little more from a better body. Offer $50.00 for it.
Not a bad deal, but keep in mind that it's not a Vintage Modified, but an Affinity. I don't see many natural finished Squiers in my area (they're invariably black,) so I'd be inclined to overlook the minor damage if that finish appealed to me.
hmmm...after looking at some of the other pictures it looks like the nut is damage as well. And you're right that it is definitely not a vintage modified. That is clearly an affinity neck
Was just about to point that out. I'd say $50 if you really really want it or just pass, affinities are everywhere
the body is from a VM Pbass like the one I own, someone slapped an Affinity neck on it. I would give $50 for it, play it like it is and troll for a replacement neck here or on eBay.
If it were me, I'd pass....if you're looking for a cheap P bass I'd go second hand VM or CV, Affinity's are ok as a first bass but won't stand up in the long run and a sub par P bass might put you off them.
It might with some work. The necks from Guitar Fetish are made with Fender specs according to their page http://www.guitarfetish.com/Bass-Satin-Sealed-Vintage-Style-Neck-_p_2004.html Honestly, $75 is not bad for just that loaded VM body. Those Duncan Designed pickups sound pretty good. That body is from one of these basses.
I got him down in price. I'm going to go for it and eventually swap out the neck. I'm GASing big time for a natural p-bass, so what the heck. Thanks for the input!
