Class D "digital" amps. Opinions on performance

One point here. I'm sure most people playing gigs don't have to bring a big rig to fill a large house. In those cases, most of the time there is a rig there and/or a house system (usually with an already deaf soundman). Even the small bass systems are getting too powerful for our ears to handle, especially fullrange systems. The emphasis should be on intelligibility on stage for the musicians first. The musicians, not only the player have to find it satisfying. Often what many of the audience in the room hear has little to do with the "Ideal sound" one has created for himself. They hear a much different frequency response whether listening to the stage sound or house sound. Too much emphasis on volume (and wattage) too. I don't think there is a "one size fits all" either. APPLICATION APPLICATION APPLICATION.

Which shuttle? the 750 has a lot of power.

I believe it was the 600W model. I know he bought it with the intent on leaving the GB750 at home. From what we heard, it was worth carrying a few more pounds from the car. I'll also add that recent acquisition of a vintage SWR head all but completely turned me off of my MB LMII...but that's not apples to apples. Still, I took note. I can clearly see how these new high power/lightweight heads are a godsend for those using public transportation, however.

I took a look at Brynspkr's user profile. I'm not sure what to make of someone who posts

"Current Setup:
A stick, a nail, a magnet, a string.
And a big collection of old new and self made instruments and speakers."

"Previously owned gear:
Speakers. Strings, Acoustics. Owned, built, repaired."

"G.A.S. List:
Built or modified everything I need."

"Influences and Teachers:
girls. The original motivation."

"Favorite Genres:
only two kinds of music in the world..."

Suspect I guess. One thing I don't build though is amps.

Maybe a Rhetorical question. Has anyone ever said "vice is my name, vice is my game"? I would never make that stupid joke.

Has anyone done a side by side comparison with an amp with a heavy conventional power section? Especially with multiple drivers and or low resonance drivers or rough impedances?

The Crown K Series was a good example of a class D amp with a heavy conventional power supply, if that's what you mean.
