Clean Boost/Buffers

Glad you like the HBE Bajo Mos.
As an added benefit the pedal has cute graphics. It's small, it's understated but it's there and I have not seen this on any guitar pedal.
For once bass players get to have it.

TC has really come up in its reputation of gear quality and perceived company values for me. I usually like the home style over built stuff like the hbe, but for the first time in history i would put my money into a TC product. Im a collector and a player and my pedals have to fit into the collection somehow. i dont even like tiny pedals, but this time my vote is the spark. I think you will like it a lot, an thats really important. enjoy whatever you choose!

Whoa! Just found a very cool feature on the Spark Mini. If you click the footswitch normally it stays on. If you hold a little longer than half a second, it becomes a momentary switch and only stays on as long as you hold it. I could see using that to give me a short momentary boost when I want a certain lick to come out stronger than normal.

Sounds like a fun thing to do and a real innovation from TC! wow!

This feature is the reason I have the Spark Mini on my board. Minimizes the pedal dancing.

yeah, I just built one today and it's a very nice booster. keep in mind that the boost mode does flip the phase of the original signal as compared to the unity gain buffered mode.

all it does is flip the phase 180 degrees so it's sonically imperceptible.

Phew! When you said that, I went back and made a couple more recordings just to verify my results last night. Honestly, I can't tell it apart from the clean sound, even when I'm boosting, so I'm good with it flipping phase.

If you ever run a Clean signal alongside the HBE (why, who knows, dual-amps or something) you'd hear the phase flip drop the low end out of the signals when summed together. Sort of a deal-changer for people running two amps and parallel effects rigs, but for single-amp players, or single-effects-chainers, no problem at all there.

actually, after looking the circuit a lot more, it's probably wired to be in phase at the boosted output. if the Bajo mos has a buffered output, when the boost is bypassed, the buffered output is reverse phased.
and if it's true bypass, then they're both in phase.

I looked it up. True hardwire bypass. So I guess I'm good to go even if I split my signal, eh?
