Cleaner Strings

Funny, I usually try to practice my bass immediately after eating some greasy chicken when I have new strings on it.

As for Fast Fret... It's interesting stuff. Immediately after using it, I definitely notice a little added brightness, but I also find that it can accelerate the break in process on brand new strings.

What it is, is that new strings and sweaty fingertips make for a rubbery feel,... too much friction. Fast fret lubes out that friction and makes for a comfy set of strings.

....or something. :atoz:

I think if you really need the strings to sound super bright, rubbing alcohol works better than fast fret, but I think that over use of it can corrode your strings faster. I personally like the sound of slightly broken in strings, and fast fret kept my last set of strings sounding like that for a few years. I only changed them because they started getting pits from contact with the frets.

I just use some "Armor All" auto interior cleaner on a clean rag, wipe down the strings before and after playing, as well as the fretboard and back of the neck. Follow up with another clean cloth wipe. Fingers slide like magic even on hot/muggy days. Have not had any problems with incompatibilities of materials. So far this works best for me. ;)
