Clear guitar straps are back!

Come on Jimmy! A clear strap? I just don’t see it.

(sorry - I’ll show myself out now)

Just checking in with you all after a few months with the clear strap. I did go back to using it again on a semi-regular basis, though I can't use it with all my basses. The heaviest I can go is my Hammersmith PJ, which is slightly under 8 lbs., but that's the bass I use most with the new band anyway. While I don't exactly rock like KISS anymore, I can put some stress on a strap. So tonight when I was raising it a little to keep up with these hardcore jazz dudes I got hooked up with, I took off the Dunlop Straploks. Still wearing pretty well and doesn't show any signs of imminent breakage. No splits in the plastic, only a little bit bent in from the pull of the weight and the Straploks, which is to be expected.

So my verdict is it's a lot better than the old Earth III straps, and very much worth the measley $10 Levy's is charging. Don't know if I'd recommend it for you sexpot guys and gals who love to play wearing next to nothing, as it can be a little sharp on the sides, but small price to pay to allow the audience to gaze upon both of your massive pecs and fabulous ta-tas and not just one as you shred, right? Nobody's looking for that out of me, though. I'm just doing it because Devo did.

I actually very carefully sanded all the edges of mine with 600 grit sandpaper to combat the sharpness...now it’s baby-butt smooth all the way around. Love mine...no issues so far and it’s holding up great!

For the price...it might be the greatest strap ever, lol!

How are the chicks digging the pecs now?

:D

But seriously, glad it worked, and glad you said "carefully." It's very easy to scratch it when you do that and make it go cloudy. I never bothered myself. I know I'll screw it up. Surprisingly, though, it's fairly resistant to scratches. I've got a small handful on hairline scratches on mine, maybe 4 or 5, and nothing at all major. Not like I baby it, either. But I do wrap it up with the front on the inside so's you can still read my t-shirts.

I play mostly at church, and if there’s any pec-digging going on, the girls are pretty sly about it as I’ve never heard a comment. Or...they are simply rendered speechless by my pectoral magnificence!
Aw man, you gotta wear a shirt in church? You need to get with one of those cool modern churches :D
