^ Yeah hes pretty good. Definately an inspiration for a LOT of people on here, but all in all I dont think hes anywhere NEAR the best bassist, or the like. I'd be interested to hear how clean his playing is without that distortion covering everything up.
I think he was a much better musician because of what he wrote than how he played or his tone. Keep in mind i'm not bashing him, because he is in fact one of the bassist's that made me want to learn bass (as well as Alex Webster, Stu Hamm, Jaco etc.)
Hmm... Alex Webster playing Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth)... interesting.
Anyway, I love listening to him, but his playing is pretty damn sloppy and his tone... leaves something to be desired. But I think the pieces he actually wrote and his musical ideas contributed A LOT to early Metallica. Just my $.02.
