Do you think there's any chance the mods can start a Alleva Coppolo forum like they did for Sadowsky?

BTW, I absolutely love my KBP4 Classic. I need to get some photos posted. I'm so glad for Talkbass otherwise I'd never have discovered Jimmy's magical basses. Seriously, there's magic in it, I don't normally play this well.

Oh, and what size is that T shirt? Too bad it says "guitars" on it.

@Vic, but for everyone...

Hey, those Turkish stainless strings that were on yours...I ordered a set of those, and I really like them.
Great tension, nice feel (some rounds feel jaggedy on the fingers); nice response, and did a good job of "evening out the voice" of the LG.

Yeah, I finally got some extra sets for myself, too. Thing is, the ones still on my bass still sound really nice. I'm AMAZED by how long these have lasted.

Admittedly, I haven't done any hot uber-sweaty outside shows on this bass, and have always kept my hands clean, BUT, just over time, any round-wound will tend to loosen against the core, and die that way too. These seem to be wound so well that's not really happening... at least appreciably. I'm hoping all his sets are "that good", because you're right... IMHO despite the fact these are SS rounds, they really compliment the LG amazingly well... especially once that new ultra shimmery phase is over and they settle into that longer term "sweeter" bright sound phase.

After starting to miss the feel of the TI jazz flats on my KBP5 I sold to Mitch I decided to put a set on my LG5. Initially with the strings brand spanking new I didn't think it was going to work out and they'd end up in the bottomless string draw.

After a few days they have settled in nicely and I am really enjoying them. Soloing/favoring the neck pickup gets me close as I need to be to my KBP and really sounds great with both pickups full on. With my LM5 just about complete I should be able to reserve that bass for slapping and more aggressive stuff and really allow me to enjoy the flats on the LG5....

What strings are you guys specifically talking about? I googled Turkish but didn't find anything...
They're actually the "Alleva Coppolo brand" strings. We just happen to know Jimmy is currently using a Turkish company to make them. Might be a good thing to drop from the conversation, though, because while his spec shouldn't change, his manufacturer always potentially could at some point for some reason, and all it's doing now is confusing people.

Bottom line is, if you want some of these strings, just order his current SS string set from his accessories store.

Ahh, makes sense. Yeah I may go ahead and order a few sets.

Thanks for the info Chef!

I wonder, has anyone had experience with the AC stainless strings on the LM's yet?

Last weekend was all AC, all the time...

I subbed at another large church and used the KPB-5 for the Saturday evening service since I had never played with any of those musicians before. Sunday I used the LG-5 and it sounded equally as good.
