Now if Jimmy can get that CNC machine online and some reliable workers in the shop. Maybe he can cut his build time down to 6 six months or less.

Right now his build time is increasing as is the prices on the basses. You have to really know what you want and be willing and patient to wait if your gonna get on his list.

True but there are luthiers who turn out basses quicker than ~14 months that are still very high quality.

Comes down to employees that all have a passion for excellence and having a smooth running shop. That takes time.

The CNC is within a couple weeks of being operational with some luck... But I think it will start with some of the functional stuff like carving the trench for the truss rod, etc. which is a pain to do and very hard to get perfect. I'm sure it's only a matter of time til it's doing everything he wants/needs it to do.

And I've also proven my worth after sanding the body for my RA-Ash that I will be helping Jimmy on a part time basis. I've also taken it upon myself to be "The Nag" and stay on him to get stuff done - specially with BP Live and NAMM coming up.

I agree and I may not have posted as clearly as I wanted too. I am sure there is plenty of stuff going on in the shop that takes up Jimmy's time that wouldn't effect quality.

I'm imagining everything that Kevin over at Sadowsky and Jason over at Fodera do. For the most part Jimmy has to take care of himself. I know he's got Patrick working there now but I don't know that he is that involved at this point.

I waited 14 months for my LM5 and it was totally worth the wait, but man that's a long time.

Great to hear, Yohan. I'm sure Jimmy could use all the good help he can get.

So does that mean you're gonna' have to add a tagline to your handle here that you're more officially associated with Alleva-Coppolo now? :)

:hyper:BTW I played an LM Deluxe 5 today that was even better than anticipated.

The strings were SS by R. COCO 45-125, I think.

I am not an SS guy at all, but these strings BLEW ME AWAY.
( of course a lot of that euphoria has to be attributed to the AC itself ).
I never got good results on any bass with the Dr SS packs and have been using Sunbeam nickels exclusively.

The R. COCO strings came highly recommended and are NOT CHEAP. I believe Matthews and Ryan are distributors- Brooklyn.

And Pete, I would convince him to stop making guitars if they weren't awesome too! In fact, after my LG5 I think either a KBP or Tele-style guitar is coming.
