Club Alleva-Coppolo (Part 13)

I do not like to "gloat" per se but I will oblige soon and get some photos up. Be patient as my camera skills are very limited.

However, I'd have to humbly say BY far one of the most gorgeous basses I have ever googled.

The GOLD changes tints all day from bright in the morning to a sultry darkish tangerine translucent brassy rich kind of thing.

I've owned a 64 Shoreline Jazz-nice
83 Jazz Collector series in Aztec gold-very nice
Alleva LM 5 in Harvest Gold. Exquisite, sublime. THE NICEST

But Mustard is kind of "bronze" IMO.

I am a bit confused is Mustard the same as Harvest Gold or two separate colours?

Separate colors. If the picture color is accurate, that color has a lot more yellow than my Harvest.

The most accurate color representation of my harvest gold are the clips on my Youtube site... that's pretty much how it looks... VERY gold, and more to the 'brownish' side versus the more yellow mustard color.

I really want to see some pictures of that bass from the site. I don't think those pics up there are very accurate for certain colors - I remember when we saw actual pics of that "root beer" LM4 it looks WAY different than the pics on the site.

Well sir...you have a very good question there IMO.....
Because this bass really gets bronzy and rich after the light diminishes in the room I have it in, and I too must admit ( at least by available photos on this site ) that Ken's bass in HARVEST GOLD looks a lighter shade than my LM 5 -- his being much similar to SHORELINE GOLD.

Another TBer GIL N., said this bass of mine is Mustard too.

Perhaps "Mustard" is a new color ??
Is it a slang name for Harvest Gold..I don't know. I haven't asked Jimmy on this.

Though it is not yellowish like mustard a la hot dogs ..

Whatever the colour name--it is definitely a colour of unusual beauty and appeal and darest I say, even the photos on the ALLEVA site does not do it justice. It is way more rich and vibrant in the flesh.

IMO the Mustard looks more bronze ( brownish) and KJung his bass more "goldish". (My god this sounds silly i know).

Fenders "Shoreline gold" is a mixture of silver metallic and gold.

Very personal and as you mention you have to see it in "flesh"

While I think metalic's are the hardest to photograph,I will say that the Trans red LM fours color is right on and the Sonic Blue P bass is slightly bleached out.

Let me know when you find out. I was basing my comments on the much more yellow/gold in the picture, versus my much more 'bronze/brown/gold' Harvest.

That bass looks great in the picture, but again, that's all I have to go by.

Even with poor quality its still a VERY HOT looking bass.

Those pics make it look a LOT closer to my Harvest LM. Seems to still have just a touch more yellow in the gold color than mine, but that might just be the light.

How about Gulden's Mustard Harvest. Jimmy might be able to get American Mustard to flip the bill on the paint costs. And offer it as a seasonal item.

Yeah, one of the reasons I went with the 3T burst was to have a more "period correct" look than the trans blue I was thinking about. The blocks and binding should really complete that vintage vibe. Kinda like this (but with a tort guard):

Not to drag another manufacture into this but a few years back I had a Sadowsky NYC that was supposed to be Shoreline Gold and came to find out it was actually Frost Gold which looks like the most recent pics of the AC,s on here.The original Shoreline gold does have some Silverish tint to it.The Roscoe Beck Fenders are the more truer Shoreline Gold to the original Fenders.I think Roger still has Shoreline Gold but believe it still is the Frost Gold?Although I may be wrong!

I getcha, I for one love the black guard with the burst. I can't wait to see your bass, I don't think I've seen an LM with that look yet... And don't worry, I'll go easy, she'll still be nice and shiny when you get her.

Looks like we're going a bit opposite... My 2 won't be period-correct at all, I don't think. Oh well, as long as it sounds period-correct I guess.

+1...that's part of why I stole the idea from Vic. I was thinking about natural with the blocks and binding, but not only has Jimmy done that before but TONS of basses are out there with that as kinda the "default" 70's jazz look. I figure the 3TS will have a complete vintage vibe while still being a bit different.
