Sorry Mitch, you gotta know I didn't mean it like that... I actually watched your video right after and that was another "that's what I'm talking about" moment. I meant to post but got busy. My bad... :o

Ya man, Jazzy/Funky hip-hop played with live instruments... How can you go wrong?

Re: the "does Jimmy Plek" question: His fretwork is like jewelry. He knows what he is doing. I think "Pleking" could only homogenize these fine instruments, and I think he would laugh at the notion of doing it. The fingerboards are properly trued and fretted, it makes all the difference in tone and feel compared to everything else I have seen out there.

Homogenize? What, you mean like using a CNC machine for necks and bodies? ;)

Seriously, it'd be inappropriate for him to get a Plek, but not because they hold no value to someone with good fret skills, but instead, simply because he doesn't do the kind of volume that would allow the system to pay for itself properly. Keep in mind a Plek system does NOT do the whole job. You still need a qualified fret person to do all the equally important finish work by hand.

In other words, if Jimmy were to grow to the point where a Plek system made sense, I would NOT make the bad assumption his instruments would take a quality hit for having it in the process any more than I would his use of a CNC machine the way he currently is and plans to.

Keep in mind homogenizing something is good if what you're homogenizing is good. Just sayin'...

LOVELY looking rig Mitch. LOVE a sunburst P. Must sound SWEET AS.. thru that ol amp, well thru darn near ANY amp!


Sorry to go OT with this, (I'll post it over in Miscellaneous also) but I though maybe some of U guys may know.

DOUG PETTIBONE- guitarist with Lucinda Williams (& ONE of the reasons I love her stuff- I LOVE his guitar work & tone- tubes PUSHED!!) didn't play on her latest album & AFAIK didn't tour with her when she came to AUS & NZ early this year.
Does ANYONE know WHY he's not playing on/in these selections???

To ME- the gig he had with her SEEMED to be a dream for a guitarist of that style- plenty of room to show yr stuff, room to display the wonderful tone etc etc..

Just wondering. BTW- I Love the WHOLE band- Taras Prodnuik(???) plays lovely tasteful bass with her too.

I think you have to always ask him what current pricing is, but last time I asked back in 2009, an LG5 Basic was $3395.

Mine is a "Standard", which is a minor step up, which was $3685.

I personally literally could not be any happier with my LG... not even one tiny thing about it I regret doing or not doing. Not one.
