It's not the lack of control plate that sets me off; I'm used to that and dig that part of the AC vibe.
It's the shape of the plastic pickguard;
it's not "what my eye is used to in a '51 kinda bass."

I think the standard 51 p/g could live without the control plate, on an AC...??

The Fender 'cowpoke' was another sort of shot at that vibe that doesn't quite hit it for me...

Having a blast at NAMM. Spent a bit of time at the A-C booth before the formal start of the show. Beautiful stuff, and it was nice to spend some time with Kirk, and briefly meet Jimmy and his wife. I'll post up some pics when i get back

Wow...sorry to hear about the damage to your neck.
I'm sure Jimmy will get your bass finished and shipped to
you as soon as he can. I didn't want to bother him about
my LG5 either. I really hope you get your bass soon!!
Dan

Hey Kirk,
This is Chuck Webb. This is my first post here but I lurk around all the time as I anxiously await my new Alleva. I'm the guy who's neck was recently damaged in shipping going to (or from?)the painter! Didn't want to bother Jimmy during the NAMM frenzy, but I was wondering if you had any info on my gold LG-5. Any idea how soon after the show it will be ready? Thanks, have a great time!

Yo, I'm looking for my new KBP5, lime-teal metallic with matching headstock and tortoise guard. Exactly 14 months now, ordered and paid for when the wait was 14 months. There was a delay some months ago due to non-functioning truss rod. Anybody seen it? Hoping to spy it in these NAMM pics.
Glad to see the '51 type. Something I've thought of asking for. Or contoured, for a '54-'55 type.

It was a pleasure meeting you Ken.. Even though I was still bleary eyed from a super late night work schedule the night before.
Hope to see you again this weekend.
