It'll be the standard tort... As much as I can appreciate the no pg thing, it's not for me! I need it there... On anoter note, The sunburst is dead on perfect! Love it!

I'm pretty sure he used to call it an RA "Custom", but on the website the Custom page is blank where it lists neck and body finishes. The Standard page does list poly for both. He does nitro bodies for an RA quite often too.
At least the first two RA basses ever made were both nitro. There were a number more soon after - I believe "The Pimp" is nitro too, correct Mitch?

Sometimes basses are slapped together with parts from other builds I'm sure Jimmy isn't mixing the 2 finishes when taking initial orders.
No, Jimmy isn't mixing up anything... That is something he started doing back in NY based on his experiences owning and repairing black blocks... It's one of those "they should've done it this way back then" situations. He said since the bodies were Alder, he decided to do some of the refins in Nitro and kept the neck Poly after fret jobs, etc. He liked the end result so he offers A-C's this way as the RA Custom model.

I definitely applaud this choice.
It may be a divergence from his vision of staying as pure as possible to what they did back then to redo the body in nitro, but I don't think that would be "detrimental" to the sound people crave from that time period... HOWEVER... removing the poly from the neck would make a big tone difference against that signature sound... especially on the fingerboard. I firmly believe those 70's poly necks were a big part of that sizzly sound people crave.
FWIW/IMHO anyway.
Intentional or not all Jimmy's basses sound phenomenal I wouldn't care if he shellacked em I'm still a buyer...
