+1....NYC is pretty much all but up and running with of course the exception of the subway by my house! but the real attention should def be in Jersey and Long Island!

Took my LM5 & KBP5 Hippy over to a buddy's studio today! He wanted to record on some stuff to see how we'll they recorded. He was blown away by how how clear and detail they were. Love that the pre acts as a boost and not modify sound. This was his test to see if he wanted to order one. Me telling him he could use, might have cancelled ordering. LOL Sorry Jimmy!

Hi guys, ive been reading through all of the club alleva coppolo threads and starting to get that "twitch"... Im from australia and playing a trip to the US next year and have been making plans to visit some bass makers. I was planning on going to the Sadowsky and Fodera shops, and until a few weeks ago, an AC bass was never on my radar, but Jimmy's approach to making jazz basses the "old school" way really resonates with me. Roger Sadowsky seems like he offers more custom options for a jazz style bass, but maybe that is just my inexperience with the AC brand, (plus living on the other side of the world).
I dont plan on ordering a bass from any of these makers before my trip to the US next year, but I am wondering if a couple of you lovely gents would share some of your experience with me? (btw i have emailed jimmy personally about prices and going to his workshop to meet him and try out some basses but as of yet no reply) any information from you guys would be greatly appreciated, as it is first hand from guys have owned many ACs.
Roughly how long is the wait time? (i dont really mind if it is "long" i once waited over 3 years for a custom Carl Thompson)
Does jimmy offer 22 fret basses?
On his 5 string basses, does he offer narrower string spacing like 18mm or 17.5mm?
What is your opinions on nitro vs poly finish. I have read that jimmys poly finish is really thin?
What is the heel at the neck join like? bulky like old fenders or less obtrusive like sadowsky?
Im still undecided about a 4 or 5 string. I personally prefer 4 strings. I have seen a sunburst AC for sale on TB, and i would love to pull the trigger, but it makes sense that if im heading to the states, I can try all these amazing instruments out personally before making any pricey purchases.

Australian friend: My two cents is save, and when you get to the States play as many basses as you can. I have two Alleva-Coppolo KPB's, 4 and 5 string and they are my only bass guitars aside from a nice Hofner I keep for Beatles/Brit Invasion material. I am an ensemble player and for me there is nothing finer. Yes you can get 18mm string spacing and a "Dinky" body if you want less heel. In my book I don't think the nitro/poly debate is worthwhile as long as the finish is thin, which these are. Last time I heard Jimmy had a two year waiting time. Best of luck!
Thanks ABC... Yes you that is plan exactly. I have already organised with harvey citron to meet him mid next year.. his basses a quite expensive too. My plan is to order an acoustic electric bass from Harvey and a jazz style bass as well. The wait time wont bother me, (as I mentioned I once waited for more than 3 years for my Carl Thompson) plus I wont have enough cash pay for 2 basses worth roughly 5 or 6 grand at once! I was almost tempted to buy a second hand alleva coppolo, but I figure if Im heading over to the States I can try out some of these basses in person. If these basses (AC's) are as good as most people say they are, a trip to LA after NY will be worth it. Thanks for your advice...
