Club Alleva-Coppolo (Part 21)

Got my new to me Alleva lg supreme. Stellar. Perfect cousin to my 62 jazz and 64 p. I'm surprised how much I dig the agi obp3 preamp. Passive sounds great too. Preamp Works perfect for this bass

Great looking fingerboard! I know if I owned that bass I'd be getting jimmy to put his pre in there. But I bet it sounds better in passive mode anyway.

One of my favorite things of my EUT5 is the pre amp. . I 90% of the time leave it flat. .. and about 75% it's in active mode, but sometimes I do use it passive. ..and that tone control is superb too. But the pre amp is just SO transparent. . Beautiful. I've never thought it needed a mid control. .. I can't speak for ANY other A-C's as I've never tried another, but mine cuts thru beautifully. ..and if I need a touch of Bass or treble. . It's a powerful, while transparent.. beast.
Fwiw, I did have an Aggy pre on a BTB Ibanez once. ..and I didn't care for it. . But that coulda been any number of other factors playing into that assessment.
Bottom line. .. I love my EUT5 "as is" Haven't found a situation where it didn't work well ...
And just for the halibut. .

I actually had a newer lg5 with the Alleva preamp and it sounded good. I'm surprised I actually prefer the obp3 in this bass. Passive sounds fantastic too. So far for gigging the agi preamp is better, much more control of some key freq with the ability to cut lows when needed. For the big acoustically challenged venues I play this is a huge plus. The Allevas Ive had are naturally big in the lows. Also Bumping the mids at 800hz sounds so sweet on an Alleva too! Geddy lee tone on tap. When the agi preamp is flat I found It is just as transparent as the Alleva. Bumping the highs and slightly bumping lows I get a great "mtd" like tone, which makes this combo so Versitle.

First gig today with my new to me LG5 surpreme. The best bass I have ever played (at least for me). Highly recommend the supreme with the DN and Nitro. Has open and rich tone but perfect highs/dynamics. TI flats with a dr black b. B. Bumped some low mids with the aggi pre and the tone was just perfect.

Nice! Why the DR B? I've always been happy with the TI flats B string. I have them on my KBP 5 and they are really nice.

Nice bass JP! Glad you're digging it!
You might want to try Fodera Nickels on that bass too.....they sound fantastic as they get older too.
Dead strings seem to sound great on Jimmy's basses....and it's always fun installing a fresh set.
Enjoy that bass man!

Yes, whoever does the paint/nitro on these did a fantastic job. In person love the nitro. Also I prefer the feel of the nitro neck for some reason. Maybe because it feels more like my real 62. The poly necks feel quite different. I was surprised

Awesome. The nitro finish was more than likely completed by the mysterious man many call "The professor". To my knowledge, he is in fact a true previous Fender employee who worked during the pre-cbs days and still works in his own shop in NY to this day. His craftsmanship is second to none if vintage Fender is your thing.

Im glad to see that I am NOT the only one that does that with a 5 string when i have flats on it..
I use CHROMES flts or fender flats with a D'adDario .130 Round.. Works great
