As long as you're OK with it, that's all that matters. I wouldn't like it and would have an issue with the reason given as I just don't believe it was intentional.

Here's a quick clip I did with the Zoot KBP-5. One of my favorite P-bass tracks. Sorry for the few mistakes. I cut the lows on the original recording and left the EQ of the KBP-5 track untouched.

I know right. And now that I've got one in my hands I know the playability and sound are top notch as well. I thought I had gas for about 1-2 more basses, but as said, make that 3-4 with the LG and LM added. Sigh... One day...

NBD - Alleva Coppolo Custom Modified KBP5 P/J Prototype......using one word to describe...AWESOME!
I can't let this one go so quickly.......it's killer.....very comfortable to play and a deadly hybrid between a P and a J bass.
So, it had a black pick guard made for it and the previous owner put black hardware on it.....and I have all the chrome hardware that came on it originally. The black pick guard looked cool.....but I think the white one makes the neck binding pop a little better.
Funny thing too....when the bass arrived, the J pick-up wasn't working properly.....had to take it apart anyway to replace the old pick guard. Kept the black screws in place instead of the chrome ones too. I think there may have been a short going on in the control cavity. So, after spending a couple of hours with it carefully re-arranging the wiring....EUREKA....the back pick up is back in action! Great bass....it truly is.....my girlfriend has called her "Ruby Sue". Uh oh, this might be another keeper! Love the Indian Rosewood board on this one and the Classic Car Dakota Red Nitro is superb!

Very cool! Thanks for letting me know that detail on that KPB Kirk! The other P/J I own in Olympic White was a NAMM bass too.
I am considering making the trip this year to Anaheim too in January . I hear it's going to be an even bigger show this year?

That's a killer! Does it have the same neck profile as your white bass? I know he was doing shallower necks 5-6 years ago, and that red one definitely fits the bill.

Yeah. You're 100% correct. The neck is thinner and faster just like my former Oly White LG5 (which now lives with a good friend of mine from Toronto). Maybe I'll get it back one day. Who knows. That had a neck from one if Kirk's basses. Killer BRW fretboard.
I have an Oly White KBP5 also Custom Modified that compliments this Dakota Red KBP5 quite well as it has the girthier neck profile. I love both of them. Jimmy really does make killer basses!
I still may see if he could make me a red J pickup cover for that KBP5. It might make it a little more complete. But it's nice as a misfit too!

I saw a few of his basses bass through BSD with white pup covers. That might be very cool.

I asked about that actually. The poles on that humcancelling p'up don't fit the current molds! I wanted a white shell on the J when that bass was at BSD. Funny how we all nitpick at the same trivial details.
