Hey right back at ya. Miss you guys being local, however this is probably good for the wallet as that Olympic white LG5 would be in my house instead of yours.

New situation is cool and exciting but has slowed the gigging unfortunately to a crawl....but that LG5 has broken in amazingly well. My favorite instrument of all time thanks to you folks

That's my custom order which I collected at Jimmy shop in 15'... he told me he intended to do that special touch around the backplate, because he knew I gig a lot, that extra gap around the corner may help on taking the plate a little bit easier.. :P so I just wondering if anyone in club got the same thing on their basses too..

Honestly I really like what Dingwall does on there Lee Sklar model where the control cavity back plate just pulls off via a magnet system, I really wish more builders would go this route.

Actually I really like that. And yeah, it does kinda seem like a practical thing in the vein of the magnetic battery cavity cover that Dingwall uses. But all I have is a message written on the heel of the neck from Jimmy. I haven't unbolted it yet to read it, so it's still secret even from me!

NBD! After almost 6 (!!!) years of waiting, this finally arrived yesterday (pics are from the shop). While the wait time was extremely long, I have to say that, in Jimmy's defense, this bass was originally an LG-5. In 2013 I changed my order to a KBP-5 (luckily, LG-5 build hadn't been started yet) and the color scheme turned out to be a little more complex than I originally thought it would be. It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I can assure you it looks even better in person than in the pics. I'm not sure what I'll do with the pick guard yet. It's a clear PG with just a little bit of spray to cover the cavities. Maybe I'll leave it like this, or I'll ask my cousin who's an illustrator to paint / draw something on it.

After a few hours of test driving I'll say that this bass really sounds thick, woody and 'thumpy'. Tone for days. I'm really impressed so far. It's got a poly finish, alder body, maple neck and a grenadilla fingerboard (Jimmy recommended this and I'm very happy with how it turned out).

Playability is also very good. I wasn't sure of the 1.875" nut width (all my other fivers are 1.75"), but I actually don't notice the difference with this bass. The back of the neck feels super smooth and Jimmy's own-branded (made together with Labella) flat wounds feel and sound very nice. I see they're not yet on his website, but they should be soon. From the few hours I spent with them, I really like them. I'm curious to see how they sound once they're broken in.

The only problem is that I added the LG and/or LM model to my gas list...

Well, to be honest, if you take 2013 as the starting point, since I then changed the order from an LG to a KBP, it's 'only' 3.5 years. I thought to do something different with the finish, as my last three basses all were sparkle basses (I also really like your black sparkle BTW).

If you ever get the opportunity, grab a KBP5. They are absolutely amazing! Mine complements my LG and LM nicely!

I bet it does. ..and I'd LOVE to. ..but. .being here in Australia. .. I think if I were gonna spend that sorta coin on a bass. ... I'd want it EXACTLY how I'd like and. ... well. ..I really don't know. I've never thought seriously about it.
I bought my EUT5 for what'd now be considered an absolute bargain - back when the AU $$ was MUCH better in comparison to the US $... not that I bought it internationally. ..but I'm sure that made a difference to the price. I'd only read about
A-C's but the descriptions that I DID read, were right aping the alley to my house (of tone n feel), & boy was I right. It's STILL the only bass (& ESPECIALLY jazz style bass - as I'm more a 'P guy')
that just does everything well. String to string - even. Neck- solid. ..rarely (I'd almost say never) needs adjusting. Sounds great passive and the active mode is just icing. ... very un-noticeable - but if I need a bit of ooomph. .. add a li'l bass eq- done. A bit of sparkle or cut thru - add a touch of treble eq...

Having said all that, I doubt I could wait on the other side of the world for a few years for a bass.
But, I'll never say never :smug::bassist:

Not really being sarcastic, Jimmy did explain that to me while I was at the shop, if that's really a "mistake" and he really "fix" it, plus I can actually take advantage on that "mistake" (take the plate off easier), I have no problem with it.

I'm having my 2nd build in the making, seriously, I don't really mind if that thing happen again.
