Looking forward to trying another Alleva. In UPS transit. 2009 LG with nitro/Brazilian. Was made for Dave boonshaft so has an Aggi op3 stock. Looks to be a nice option to control mids. Which was something I missed when playing live in some situations with my last Alleva.
Looks like it could be cousin of my 62 jazz and 64 P, 3TB. Got a five string set of TI flats for it. Love TI flats on my 62 jazz, hopefully the .136 B is mighty and works well. Has the smaller body same dimensions to my understanding as my old jazz as well, which I'm sure I'll dig as I love my 62 body feel.

I couldn't rave about this bass before because I worked for the shop, but as I can speak as just a player now, that bass is incredible. The sound is fat and round, but still real precise and woody/growly! Just unbelievable. Highest GAS I had for an A~C in recent memory, and my photos can't do it justice. The 1-piece century pine body just comes through that blonde finish, and I know it's gonna yellow really beautifully with age. Just can't say enough good stuff about that 81009.
Need some advice on strings. I want to replace the stock strings on my RA5. I am considering between d'addario NYXL or DR strings. Which would you recommend?
I've used Foderas on my ACs mostly, but these NYXLs are great on my 66 J. I'm def going to try them on an AC next.
I've never used the AC strings so I'm not sure how they compare. For higher tension, the DR Low Riders are awesome. I use them on my LG.

Don't discount Alleva-Coppolo Strings as an option. I've used a lot of different strings and the AC nickels are some of my favorites. Less time to break-in and they seem to have a much longer life than many I've used.

Here is another question, being that all the 5 tuners are on top what length strings do i need to get. Standard that fits (34-35 scale) or extra long (35-36 scale)?
I've never had a problem with any reg long scale strings. . That's regular 34'' long scale -- SIT's... D'addario rounds, flats, tapes etc. .
