Club Alleva-Coppolo (Part 21)

Still digging my LG5! I almost sold it simply due to my inability to get along with 19mm 5 strings and backed out last minute. I put an 18mm on it and it's a forever keeper. It records soooo good and you all know how great they feel.
Here's a mini-clip from my new project, I'd say featuring the LG5 but my friend on soprano is gearing up for a killer solo!!

The LM5 is a one piece Northern Ash, NYC era, and under 9lbs :)
The gold LG5 is the same vintage. It's the first bass painted by Jimmy according to the note in the neck pocket. He interestingly painted stringers on the back of the neck which I think looks cool. Sweet, sweet tone.

jimmy started the engraved logo in los angeles, as far as i know. so it is probably not a NYC era bass, or have i missed something?

Do you happen to know if the 18mm fits the same holes as 19mm and which model Hipshot it is?

My 18 and 19 mm bridges are interchangeable, both the A model and the bent plate vintage. But I think at some point they could have been different so maybe confirm it with Hip or Jimmy.

Hey everyone.

I'm considering posting my AC LG5 in Candy Apple Red up for sale or trade in the Classifieds. Just seeing if anyone in the AC club has interest and feel free to send me a PM. Fretboard is CNL which is no longer an option from what I've heard. This is the Brazilian rosewood hybrid. Finish is Polyurethane too. Sound is punchy. Pups have beeb raised and output is killer. I'll gladly keep it if doesn't sell but would also consider an AC trade of some sort. Start a conversation with me if you are interested in great LG5.

This bridge was a straight swap. It may be special for Jimmy though. The reason I say that is I wanted to swap out a 19 to 18 on another bass through hipshot and it wouldn't work. One was a 4 screw mount vs a 5 screw mount. Instead I got a new threaded saddle set which did allow for a tighter spacing.

Quick question:

Anybody knows the meaning behind Jimmy's models designations?

I've heard that LM stands for "Like Marcus". I don't know if it's true but from what I think I understand from Jimmy, that's definitely not far fetched.

KBP for Kirk B. Powers (the guy from Debbie Gibson's band ...and well known TB'er ;).

What about LG, RA, 81009?

I'm shooting for "Like George" for the LG with reference to George Fullerton. The G in G&L. "Lucky Gold" has a good ring to it too. :)

The RA should have a connection with Geddy Lee.

I like that Jimmy has kept it a mystery.
Makes guessing more fun!

Yeah, it feels like an easter eggs hunts... Ready Bass Player One?

What crack me up, pun intended, is the various signatures you can find on the inside of the cavity plate, neck plate and neck/heel pocket where he signs:

"Built by J.C., 2016 A.D"

:roflmao:

Australian Blackwood FB on my new LG5.
