I agree with that, Matt..........I put the A-c Reds on the LG and it became a totally new bass..........The other strings were totally dead, but I was kinda digging that sound that was coming out, but I put the new strings on mainly to A/B them to the RA with its new set of Blues...they are definitley smoother sounding, and a bit easier on the fingers but they still have a cool slap sound that I would plan on using more if the RA wasn't so damn killer right now :bassist:..........but that old school bounce was still there and still funky.......

He had an Ash Body /RW board LS-5 Series but not many were buying them so he discontinued that model. it had 70 pup spacings.. but im sure he could still do one if you wanted.

Very intersting... Jimmy said my bass was a LM-5.
It has an ash body/Indian Rosewood board with 70's
pick up spacing. :confused:

Monday night I was tuning up at band pratice
and I could not get the bass to work in active mode.
I ended up playing it passive.
I looked at it closer last night one of the wires
had came loose that is soldered to the battery
box.:(

Looks like Jimmy solders the wires to the battery
box, threads them through a hole to the control cavity
and cuts them to the correct lenght. It's not as simple
as just re-soldering the wire. Looks like both wires to the battery compartment will
need to be removed (at both ends) then resoldered.
Remove the battery box, solder the wires to
the battery box, thread them
through the hole to the control cavity then resolder on the
other end.

I know I'm making this sound harder than it actually is.
I have only used a soldering gun a couple of times so
I'm not gonna do it. :eek:

The only local guy I trust is always about a month
back logged and I know he will say leave the bass and
"I'll get to it ASAP". A 30 minute job could mean leaving
the bass with him for a couple of weeks at best.
I going to give him a call tomorrow though.

To top it off...Carey has my VJ5 repairing the finish
(I dropped it a few moths ago) and I probably won't
get it back for a couple of weeks.

I think I'll give Jimmy a few days to recuperate from his
trip to California and give him a call next week.
It sounds pretty good passive though.:smug:

Sheesh! When it rains it pours, huh?!

It's a good thing the passive tone on your bass is killin' though!

I know you went Jong's shop (Jive Sound)........ever thought about him doing it?.....I know he's pretty handy with a soldering gun.........I thought that the now defunct LS basses had 60's pickup spacing.............Happy Birthday, Aj, wherever you are.......my birthday's Saturday and Bernie's is Monday.........I'm really rying o find another pickguard for my bass.......Jimmy doesn't know when he's getting more in and I just don't have that kind of patience (for a PICKGUARD!)......it seems kinda crazy to have to wait months for a pickguard, but that's just me.....I wonder if I could getg one from AllParts and if it would fit..........:hmm:

Never been to Jong's shop. I plan to make it up there soon.
I live about 3 hours away in south in SW Va.

:hmm:.............there was a guy there with an A-C just like yours about a month or so ago.......well, sorry......guess that's out........thanks, BTW and I hope you don't have to wait that long........

Happy Birthday all and especially to Ace who is another 80's kid just like me! ;)

I'm not sure that an All Parts guard would fit an Alleva Coppolo. Jimmy uses full size pickup covers on his 5'ers and I'm sure stock guards are cut for smaller pickup covers like Sadowsky, Nordstrand and others use.

I love that though. The full size covers look normal to me. The smaller covers just throw the looks of the bass off, IMO.
