Essentially I'm an idiot - that's what happened. I ran out of attachment room and thought that by deleting a bunch of images I could make more room. POOF!!! All pictures gone. They are back now, but to keep the picture thing going I'll need help since I've used my capacity, and can't post any more. Not even of the LG5 Fretless that just showed up at the door. :eyebrow: Oh well, gotta run! :hyper:

My RA-5, bought 3 months ago on Talkbass classifieds. It has moved to the head of the pack.. Absolutely love it!

I got my bass today. I only got to spend a few hours with it, so I can't really say too much.

A few things are apparent, though. First off, the bass is extremely well built. All the components and design goals were obviously well thought out. The bass captures all the nuances that make up THE classic J tone, yet emphasizes them in way that is very open and rich. Even down to the open B, the little details shine through. I haven't heard many B strings that deliver the details like this one.

The DN board is very similar to the board on my 1959 P bass. I'm am one of the crazies who think that the fingerboard wood is a huge influence on tone, and for the old school vibe, DN is the only way to go. This is the very board that all the 'vintage guys' have been going gaga over for years. I was one of them. Now, it is available on a 5 string bass.

The finish is impeccably applied. It was done by THE nitro guy. You know who I mean. ;) It is the real deal nitro finish. I've seen many bad quote nitro unquote finishes. This one is top notch. The best I've seen on a new bass.


More thoughts to come. I wanted to at least chime in, but I want to spend some more time with the bass to learn the ins and outs before I post.

It seems as if there is a bit more space in the RI case (could just be the fly orange interior)....... I think it might be alright in a low traffic situation, but I too would be extra concerned about the possible loss of shock absorbtion.....probably not a HUGE deal though.....
