I use their small amp bags for my amps, and the quality is top notch.

The best double bag I've experienced is the double bag used by Fodera. Fantastic combination of light weight, thick padding (not as much protection as the in-Case or Sadowsky Porta bag, but much more than a typical bag like the Mooradian), and it has double zippered, separate compartments for each bass. Very nice.

I can't remember who the OEM is for that bag, but it's a good one. I think TBer Wilbyman knows. GREAT double bag.

Edit: I like the original In-Case Slim Bag so much that I found a new one in the box that was left over inventory from before they changed the design, and have it stashed away in case the one I use ever wears out! The new one is a quality bag also, but the change in design made it less preferred for me versus the Sadowsky Portabag, which is pretty close in design to the original Slim Bag. All nice stuff.

Is the bag you're referring to similar to this one in looks? Tony used this bag with his Fodera's as well. Wondering if it's the one you're talking about.

While I agree the one zipper deal is an inconvenience (tho a minor one IMHO), and the bag weighs more than a typical "soft" gigbag designs like that Fodera (and so many others), at least I personally definitely wouldn't trash the bag in general like this for it.

I also don't think they're too heavy to be very practical, especially noting the added protection of the design. I use mine all the time, and I'm just as weight conscious as you are as a general rule.

At least IMHO, I love the DUB bag and trust it with my basses more than any other double case, including even the best of the typical "soft" designs... no matter how much padding they stuff in there.

That said, I'm NOT trashing the better soft doubles... I may even look up one of those Fodera type bags, but I still feel the DUB is best.

FWIW, anyway.

That's it... Estrella. FANTASTIC bag. However, I just remembered that the Fodera models are too short for a full size J Bass. So, if you are interested in one of these, make sure to get the 'extended' model. Fantastic bags... thick padding, lightweight, and separate compartments of the basses.

Ok cool. I see they're made out of Cordura like the old Mooradian bags. Very tough. I'll definitely look in to them more.

The Fodera online store doesn't list the double bag though. I'm sure it's still availble through them.

Just another reminder. The Alleva will NOT fit in the Fodera model of that bag... it's too short. I'm sure they have a longer 'J friendly' version.

Ah, cool. I didn't realize that. I didn't think their 36" instruments were any longer than the standard 35". I assumed it was just a movement of the bridge a little closer to the end of the body. Very cool.

I also used a a couple Reunion Blues bags for years and years (my single was my main bag for over 20 years.. the zipper crapped out, and they replaced it for free... nice), and actually had a double leather Reunion Blues back in the day. Beautiful bags, but at that time, the double bag had a very small external pocket and a single zipper for access, both of which ended up being strong negatives for me. They are built like tanks, and the leather is just beautiful on those. I remember paying a small fortune at the time for that double bag!

I just spoke with Martha at Fodera (very nice lady). She said that Estrella will make bags to custom specs as well. They just need a drawing to send to Estrella and he can accomodate.

BTW, the pricing for a standard size double bag is $385. The single bag price is listed on the Fodera e-store but the double is not.

Yea I paid a good chunk of change back in the day when I worked at Rudy's on 48th street...Besides being all scratched up from my over rambunctious cat and her claws the bag has been a wonderful companion...
Yes Fodera's 36" scale basses are longer and a pain to get in to other bags with out tugging the zipper around the headstock and losing most protection..
Here's my Emperor 36" scale notice the bridge is in the same position as there 34 or 35" basses...

Wow, is that a beauty!!!! Amazing. I can see the bridge position being the same. Cool. I have a buddy that has a 36" scale fretless Imperial, and it's a beauty also. That bass is something special that you have... you can just feel it from the picture.

I assume those are the Barts they used to use... those are my favorite Fodera pickups... fat and warm.

I assume you can get a better deal directly through Estella. I do remember paying quite a bit when I had my Fodera double. I had the standard size one, so when I went 'J crazy' none of my basses fit anymore. I sold it to Wilbyman, since he uses all those panzy, girly man little basses:D
